Formal charges have been filed against two women suspected of abusing and neglecting animals on a Pine County farm. The charges stem from a September 12th search warrant executed by the Pine County Sheriff’s Office.

Kathleen Mary Doenz, age 65 and her mother, Gloria Irene Carlson, age 86 have each been formally charged with 5 felony counts, 5 gross misdemeanor counts and 4 misdemeanor counts related to the abuse and neglect of the horses, dogs, and other animals located on their properties in Pine County.

The charges come after investigators from the Pine County Sheriff’s Office, aided by veterinarians and animal rescue workers, executed search warrants on related properties owned by the defendants on separate dates as part of an on-going investigation of abuse and neglect reported by concerned citizens.

During those warrants, animals including horses, dogs, cats and chickens were found in inhumane conditions and deteriorating health.

According to the Pine County Sheriff, numerous animals had to be euthanized following seizure.
