Vikings Defeat Chicago Bears In Overtime Thriller 23-20

Monday, December 2nd, 2013 at 8:06 am

For the second straight week the Vikings went to overtime against a divisional rival yesterday afternoon. Except this time, it did not end in a tie. Hosting the Chicago Bears for the last time at Mall of America field, the Vikings earned the 23-20 with Blair Walsh kicking the 34 yard game winning field goal with a 1:43 left in overtime.

Adrian Peterson rushed the ball 35 times for 211 yards and Matt Cassel went 20 for 33 for 243 yards and one touchdown and one interception after Christian Ponder left the game with a concussion just before halftime. Greg Jennings had seven catches for 78 yards and a touchdown. Jennings scored a touchdown for the first time since week four against the Pittsburgh Steelers when he caught two touchdown passes from Cassel.

The Vikings are the first team to play in back to back overtime games since the New York Jets did it in 2010.
