A man who was shot in the stomach during a Thanksgiving-day deer drive has now been identified by the Wisconsin DNR, according to WEAU.

Bill Yearman, with the Department of Natural Resources says 52-year-old Brian Kohnke of Menomonie was the victim of the accident. Yearman states Kohnke is still hospitalized and listed in critical condition.

Kohnke was part of a 20-man hunting group when the incident occured on Thursday. The group participated in a “deer drive” at around 10:30am before Kohnke was shot. Yearman says a deer ran by and several shots followed, one hitting Kohnke in the stomach. He was later flown to a St.Paul hospital.

The DNR is still investigating which member of the group shot Kohnke, but says the group is being cooperative.
