81-Year-Old Wisconsin Man Accused Of Threatening President Obama
Federal agents are reporting that an 81-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested on suspicion of threats against U.S. President Barack Obama.
The Associated Press states Elwyn Nels Fossedal was arrested after he made an alleged threat on October 15 at the Richland Center post office in Richland County, WI.
According to a criminal complaint, Fossedal said “If President Obama was here I would shoot him right there and kill him right now.”
The AP says U.S. Secret Service agents interviewed Fossedal, where he would later refuse to recant the threat, and allegedly continued to make additional threats. Agents also say Fossedal had recently lost his wife of 57 years.
Fossedal was formally charged on November 21st.
The website “Smoking Gun” says if Fossedal is convicted of making the threat, he faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
