Esko Woman Accused Of Embezzlement, Faces Charges
A 63-year-old Esko woman faces six felonies for allegedly stealing almost $90,000 from her long-time former employer. The findings have come some nine months after Denise Forconi retired as a bookkeeper at Cloquet-based Pine Ridge Homes, a place where she worked for 29 years.
The criminal complaint against Forconi alleges that she drafted unauthorized checks in her name, billed one or more accounts for non-existent expenses, and then cashed or deposited the checks at local banks.
The criminal complaint filed against Forconi alleges the total amount taken is $88,709.70, with the acts happening several times between July 1st, 2010 and her retirement in March 2013.
Following Forconi’s retirement, WDIO reports that her successor at Pine Ridge Homes discovered accounting irregularities, prompting an internal investigation, which then led to an outside accounting firm reviewing their financial records.
