A Minnesota man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly confronted an ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend at a NW Wisconsin cabin last Saturday, according to the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office.

A criminal complaint states that 53-year-old Ronald Aune, of Forest Lake, entered the Burnett County cabin of ex-girlfriend Christine Johnson last Saturday night. The complaint mentions that Aune was armed with a handgun and had yelled for Johnson, who was hiding under a bed.

After failing to find Johnson, Aune allegedly ordered boyfriend, Edwin Frank, into his truck.

Johnson states she walked out of the cabin to distract Aune while Frank grabbed the handgun. The gun was stored inside the cabin while Frank called 911.

Aune would later be located at a hospital in Wyoming, MN for gunshot wounds. It is suspected that Aune was shot with his own handgun.

More information to follow as the investigation continues.
