Wisconsin Dems Consider Supporting Walker Property Tax Cut
Wisconsin Senate Democrats are likely to support Gov. Scott Walker’s $100 million property tax cut when it comes up for a vote Tuesday.
That’s what Senate Democratic Minority Leader Chris Larson told the Associated Press Monday after the measure was scheduled for a vote.
Republicans are moving quickly on the plan that would cut property taxes on the typical home by $13 this year. The actual effect on individual homeowners varies widely across the state.
The Senate is taking up the bill on Tuesday, with the Assembly following on Thursday.
Walker unveiled the plan last week, just three days after Democrat Mary Burke announced she was challenging him. If passed, the tax cut would be in effect on bills mailed this December.
