Minnesota In The Mix For 2018 Super Bowl

Wednesday, October 9th, 2013 at 8:14 am

The Minnesota Vikings may not have even broken ground on their new stadium yet, but the near-billion dollar project has already been announced as a finalist for an upcoming Super Bowl, according to the Associated Press.

Vikings owner Zygi Wilf offered a press release on Tuesday saying that Minneapolis and the new stadium will be a perfect fit. The NFL says the two other finalists for Super Bowl 52 are Indianapolis and New Orleans. The game would be played on February 4, 2018, but the announcement of the location will come next May.

If Minnesota is selected as host, it would be only the second time in NFL history, and the first time since 1992, when the Washington Redskins defeated the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVI at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.
