Minnesota Wild Begin Season Thursday

Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013 at 2:02 pm

For hockey fans in Minnesota, it may as well be Christmas Eve.

That’s because the Minnesota Wild get back into action tomorrow night with their season opening game of the 2013-14 season. It will be the second season with Zach Parise and Ryan Suter rostered, and Coach Mike Yeo will be pressed to get his team to be more consistent. The Wild showed flashes of excellence last year followed by nearly inexplicable droughts of sloppy play and missed opportunities.

With both Jason Pominville and Mikko Koivo back in tow, the Wild lineup looks formidable. Some questions surround aging goalie Nicklas Backstrom, but he did tie highest amount of wins last season in the NHL. Although he’s not elite, clearly Backstrom is more than serviceable.

Yeo is also developing some young players and experimenting with his lines. The Wild will host the LA Kings Thursday night at the Xcel Energy Center.
