MNSure.com To Go Live On Tuesday
The website where Minnesotans will be able to purchase health insurance through under the federal health care law is getting ready to go online.
Starting Tuesday, MNsure.com is open for business. The Associated Press notes that although it will be ready, officials managing the venture say they’re not expecting a flood of enrollment in the first few days.
Insurance bought through MNsure doesn’t take effect until Jan. 1, and people can wait as long as Dec. 15 to sign up and still get coverage starting that day.
The AP also notes that the state estimates that one in five Minnesotans will buy insurance through MNsure by 2016. The legislation behind MNsure was designed during the 2013 legislative session in St. Paul and had to pass before a deadline would have required the state to default to the federal health care plan.
