A man who’s been charged with causing a fatal crash in Pierce County was in court Monday.

Online court records show a $15,000 signature bond was set for 24-year old Zebediah Tri of River Falls.

Those records indicate that he’s being charged with homicide by vehicle during use of a controlled substance, and homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle.

Pierce County deputies say 50-year old Brenda Bemis was killed when the car she was riding in was rear-ended on U.S. Highway 63.

The criminal complaint says that Tri was driving the car that was following Bemis, and a blood test after the crash found he had THC in his system.

He’s due back in court in October.
