Despite a recent August spike in West-Nile cases throughout Minnesota, the mosquito-borne virus is remaining relatively quiet this summer.

According to state officials, 21 cases of West Nile virus were reported-upon this summer, which is well below the 103 cases that were found last year.

The Minnesota Department of Health did state that a person in western Minnesota died from the disease earlier this year.

Stearns County is currently leading the state with the three separate West-Nile cases.
