Isanti County Jail Nurse Charged After Alleged Prescription Altering
This afternoon we learned through a press release that an Isanti County Jail nurse has allegedly been ordering substantial amounts of controlled substances through her job with a medical provider.
On August 8th, 2013 at 5:00pm, the Sheriff’s Department was advised by the Isanti County Jail to contact Advanced Correctional Healthcare (ACH). ACH is the contract medical provider for the jail.
The Sheriff had been informed by ACH representatives about discrepancies in prescription medications that had been ordered through the jail. Apparently a substantial amount of Oxycodone and Hyrdrocodone had been ordered recently, with allegations of fraudulent prescriptions as well.
The Sheriff immediately notified his administrative and investigative staff along with the Isanti County Attorney’s Office. An investigation started shortly at 7pm and went into the early morning hours. Enough evidence had apparently been gathered to justify a search warrant.
As a result of the investigation, 39-year-old Cara Sue Lindgren of Cambridge was arrested and booked into the Isanti County Jail. Lindgren now faces charges of 5th Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Fraudulent Statements in reference to altered prescriptions. She appeared in court on August 9th and was released on bail with conditions.
Lindgren was an employee of ACH, and had been assigned as jail nurse for the county. The investigation is still active, with no further information at this time.
