Twins, Vikings, Packers All In Action On Our Stations Friday
It’s a busy sports day for us here at red rock radio as we’ve got a total of three games on two stations for your listening pleasure.
First off, this afternoon we’ll carry the Minnesota Twins matinee against the Chicago White Sox at 1:10 on Cool Country. The Twins and the Sox are opening up a four game series. Kyle Gibson will get another start and Twins fans are hoping for the best. The young gun has been very ordinary so far. Gibson, who has never faced Chicago, hasn’t made it past the fifth inning in his last two starts. He gave up four runs over three in a 6-4 victory over Houston on Saturday. He’ll take on John Danks, who has a 2-9 record this season.
The two teams will play again tonight as a doubleheader has been scheduled at US Cellular Field, however, we’ll carry the Vikings preseason opener against the Texans instead.
Minnesota will be playing at Mall of America Field in their first game action of the 2013 season. It’s not a meaningless game, but key starters on both teams won’t be suiting up. Jared Allen and Arian Foster would normally be two of the biggest names in this matchup, but while nursing injuries, both have officially been ruled out.
Several other starters for both teams will also likely be reserved, but Vikings fans will really be watching the play of quarterback Christian Ponder closely. Ponder has been up and down in camp so far, but has a retooled WR corps to work with this season and is facing increased expectations. Join Paul Allen and the rest of the Vikings crew tonight for kickoff of Vikings vs. Texans at 7pm on Cool Country 100.9.
Packers fans will also be investing some TV time in their favorite team tonight as Green Bay hosts Arizona at 7pm on SAM1057.
