Twins Rookie Albers Dazzles In First Start, Beats Royals 7-0
One night after a drubbing at the hands of the Royals, the Twins got back some measure of respect on Tuesday night blasting Kansas City 7-0 at Kauffman Stadium.
Making his first ever major league start, Andrew Albers mowed down what had been a red hot Royals lineup going 8 1/3 innings while allowing just four hits. Offensively, a pair of first inning homers for the Twins got things going early; both Brian Dozier and Justin Morneau got into the act to put the Twins up 3-0 in the first.
The Twins added runs in the second, fourth and sixth to provide plenty of run support for Albers. The young pitcher was feeling confident all night though and finished with four K’s including two of George Kottaras.
Minnesota is now 49-61.
