A man has been sentenced in Burnett County for a night of thrill-seeking that ended his friend’s life.

WQOW reports that Cole Fohrenkamm was driving an SUV while Shawn Swanson was riding on the outside of the vehicle. Fohrenkamm was accused of increasing his speed to about 40 mph and weaving back and forth. Swanson fell off and died.

On Wednesday, a Burnett County judge ordered Fohrenkamm to visit Swanson’s grave on the anniversary of the crash then go to jail for 10 days. He must do that every year for the next three years. He must also serve an additional month in jail, do community service, and will lose his drivers license for a year.

If he meets all of those requirements, WQOW reports that the homicide charge against Fohrenkamm will be dismissed.
