Minn. State Lottery Sets New Sales Record For Sixth Straight Year
In a Minnesota Public Radio report, the Minnesota State Lottery says big jackpots helped fuel their sixth straight year of record-setting sales.
Officials with the State Lottery confirmed that a total of $560 million dollars set a new sales record for the company; $40 million was the difference between last year’s fiscal report, which ends in June.
The sale of scratch-off tickets has been touted as the Lottery’s biggest contributing money source, with a projected $358 million in fiscal year sales.
According to MPR, about 60 percent of money betted within the organization is paid out in prize money.
Lottery proceeds go towards the state’s environmental and general fund.
