Solon Springs Constable Accused Of Sexual Assault
A town constable in Solon Springs is now facing allegations of sexual assault after an area woman claimed the officer brought her to his home during a pick-up.
The Superior Police Department is investigating details surrounding 47-year-old Gerald E. Olson. A constable is the sworn law enforcement officer in small towns, such as Solon Springs.
According to the AP, the 27-year-old woman states Olson picked her up in his police vehicle while she was walking along Highway 53 on the night of June 15.
Superior Police Chief Charles LaGesse says she filed a report the following day.
In a WDIO interview, LaGesse said “She stated that the constable offered her a ride to the Holiday station in Superior so she could call some relatives to get a ride to where her destination was in Northern Minnesota. But instead he drove her to his house, asked her if she wanted to come inside, provided her with alcohol and proceeded to make sexual advances on her and touch her in a sexual fashion,”.
The woman states she was eventually dropped off at the St.Croix Inn at approximately 2am.
Olson reportedly works part-time for the Village of Solon Springs and also assumed part-time duties within the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
