Minnesota DNR Cracks Down On Drunken Boating
The state Department of Natural Resources will be ramping up it’s enforcement on drunken boating as the Independence Day holiday approaches.
According to the AP, the stepped-up patrols are part of Operation Dry Water, a national weekend that educates boaters about boating-while-intoxicated and enforcement directed toward reducing alcohol and drug-related accidents and fatalities.
The DNR states impaired boating is one of the leading factors for boating accidents and injuries in Minnesota. 33% of the state’s deadly boating accidents last year were attributed to alcohol.
