Bomb Squad Called In To Remove Explosives Found In Birchwood Home

On Monday afternoon a bomb squad was called in to remove explosives found hidden in a deceased man’s shed in Birchwood, Wis.

WDIO reports that the executor of the estate called authorities after discovering the explosives under the floor boards in the metal garden shed at the home on Main Street in Birchwood. The Washburn County Sheriff’s Office reported that the shed contained thirty two-pound sticks of highly explosive material.

Authorities evacuated nearby residences while the Marathon/Oneida County Bomb Squad traveled to Birchwood. The bomb squad removed the explosives and detonated them in a sand/gravel pit outside of the village. Thankfully, no one was injured.
