Thousands Of Minnesotans Still Without Power After Weekend Storms
Local and state-wide power outages are still a reality as this weekend’s batch of storms created problems for utility crews throughout much of Minnesota.
As of 4pm Saturday, East Central Energy reported about 80 local members were still without power, mostly in Benton and Mille Lacs counties. Broken poles, damaged and downed trees and power lines slowed restoration efforts. Saturday morning saw 500 members without power in those areas. Friday morning saw 5,000 members.
In the metro, by 7pm Saturday, Xcel Energy said that 514,100 customers lost power, but that power had been restored to 402,500 of these customers, with 111,600 still powerless.
