Thursday, June 20th, 2013 at 8:15 am

Minnesota Dem. Senator Al Franken is introducing a new bill that seeks strengthening in the workforce as well as career training in Minnesota.

According to the Associated Press, “The Community College to Career Fund” would create partnerships between two year colleges and local businesses.

The set-mark of Sen. Franken is to train nearly 2 million skilled workers for high-demand industries such as health care and aeronautics. The democratic senator says the bill will help solve the problem of unfilled jobs due to the lack of skilled workers in Minnesota’s workforce.

Franken stated, “You know, I go around Minnesota and I hear from lots of businesses that they have job openings they can’t fill because they can’t find workers with the right skills.”

The AP reports that Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MNSCU) recommended schools start strategically offering programs to benefit both students and industry
