Vikes Looking To Add Ex-Packer LB Bishop?
With minicamp opening Tuesday, Vikings chatter should reach a pre-training camp crescendo this week.
The Vikings may be looking at adding another ex-Packer. Talented linebacker Desmond Bishop was axed by the Packers on Monday. After missing all of 2012 with a ruptured hamstring, Bishop insists he’s 100 percent healed.
Bishop wouldn’t accept a pay cut, so the 28-year old hits free agency as one of the top players available. Multiple sources have confirmed that Bishop will visit the Vikings at some point today or tomorrow. Assuming his right hamstring checks out medically, Bishop would make a lot of sense for Minnesota, as LB is a huge question mark with Marvin Mitchell currently slated to start on the weak side.
Should a healthy Bishop sign, suddenly the Vikes would have a formidable corps with Bishop in the middle, Erin Henderson on the weak side and pro bowler Chad Greenway on the strong. Coming off a terrible injury though, Bishop’s physical is going to tell the story.
