A three year old child is in an induced coma after being rescued by bystanders after the vehicle he was riding in rolled into the Chippewa River.

WEAU reports that three-year-old Logan Buchli is in an induced coma in Rochester.

The van rolled into the water Saturday around 5 p.m. at the boat landing near the Lake Hallie Sportsman’s Club.

Three bystanders were able to get into the water to help rescue the boy. WEAU reports that the volunteers said they grabbed a rock and cracked the back window to pull the boy out. The Boy’s sister was able to get out of the van in time with the help of her uncle. By the time the uncle went back for the boy, the van was already submerged in the water.

Witnesses said the boy received CPR and before being taken to the hospital.

The Lake Hallie Police Department said the van rolled as the driver was trying to take the boat out from the river and the current was strong enough to take the van.
