Wildfires Burning On Red Lake Reservation

Tuesday, May 14th, 2013 at 6:00 am

The dry conditions in Minnesota are becoming a problem this spring. Beltrami County authorities are saying that two wildfires have burned about 1,200 acres on the Red Lake Reservation.

WDIO reports that the fires are burning west of Highway 89 and north of Highway 1, but no structures are threatened.

Minnesota DNR forestry crews and the Red Lake DNR forestry are working to contain the fires.

Smoke is drifting to the southeast and authorities issued an alert to area residents to advise them of the possibility of smoke and haze.
