Beginning in 2012, Chisago County, Isanti County, and Pine County joined efforts in narcotics enforcement by creating the East Central Drug and Violent Offenders Task Force.

Throughout 2012, the East Central Drug Task Force conducted over 250 investigations with multiple undercover operations including a murder-for-hire sting. The Task Force executed 37 search warrants leading to the arrest of 116 individuals.

Approximately 2 pounds of methamphetamine and over 225 pounds of processed marijuana were confiscated. Agents uprooted 1,200 locally grown marijuana plants, seizing 24 pounds of khat (an east African drug), 2.5 ounces of cocaine and over 560 illegally possessed prescription pills. The total street value of illegal drugs confiscated was over $800,000.00.

The Drug Task Force also seized for forfeiture 24 guns, 5 vehicles and 2 properties worth $81,800.00.

The Task Force was formed to focus on high level narcotics enforcement and other violent criminal activities at a multijurisdictional level. Sheriff Rick Duncan of Chisago County, Sheriff Russ Monson of Isanti County, and Sheriff Robin Cole of Pine County sit as board members of the Task Force and oversee the efforts of the assigned Agents.
