Wild Play Well, Lose 2-1 To Chicago In Game 1

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013 at 6:41 am

Last night the Minnesota Wild got their postseason underway and lost an overtime game against the Blackhawks 2-1 in Chicago. Things didn’t go as planned early: goalie Nicklas Backstrom suffered an injury in warm ups and was unable to play. Josh Harding filled in nicely though, racking up 35 saves against a very good hockey team.

Cal Clutterbuck scored an opening period goal for the Wild, but Minnesota couldn’t score again. The team was also without winger Jason Pominville, who is still recovering from a blow to the head he suffered late in the regular season.

The two teams will continue the seven game series on Friday night in Chicago; but we’ve heard no word on if Pominville or Backstrum will be ready.
