Crews To Resume River Search For Two Missing Men

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013 at 8:01 am

Fire and rescue crews will resume a search this morning in the Chippewa river. The crews are looking for two males who are believed to be in the water. WEAU reports that more than a dozen searchers from Eau Claire and Township Fire Departments as well as a Mayo Two pilot searched by land, water and air Tuesday.

Eau Claire Fire Division Chief John Schultz told WEAU that the canoe the two males were in flipped, and a kayaker in the area tried to rescue them. His kayak flipped, but he was able to get out of the water safely.

Crews responded to the river around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday to look for the two men, who authorities believe to be in their 20’s.
