Wild In Postseason, Have To Face Chicago
Over the weekend, Wild fans rejoiced as their team made the NHL postseason for the first time in five years. The Wild barely snuck in to the eighth spot in the Western conference and will now have the dubious task of contending with the Chicago Blackhawks in the opening round. The Blackhawks took two of three regular season meetings with the Wild, and finished the season with the best record in hockey. That series will open Tuesday night.
The Wild clinched that eighth spot on Saturday night with a 3-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche. Had they lost, the Wild would have missed the postseason again. Just a month ago, the Wild led the Northwest Division but swayed down the stretch, going 5-8-1.
