Twins Split With Marlins On Day/Night Doubleheader

Wednesday, April 24th, 2013 at 7:48 am

After Monday night’s inclement weather caused another scheduling problem for the Twins, two games took place at Target field yesterday between the Twins and the Marlins, with each team winning one.

In the first game of the double header, Minnesota was propelled to a 4-3 victory by a three run homer from Oswaldo Arcia. Glen Perkins came on for his sixth save of the season.

Later in the day, in front of a very sparsely populated crowd, the Marlins stopped that five game winning streak by beating the Twins 8-5. The Marlins jumped out to a 4 run lead in the first two innings, but Minnesota would make things interesting with a three run inning in the third and another run in the sixth and eighth. The pitching was just too inconsistent though giving up a combined 16 hits in the nightcap. Mike Pelfrey was charged with the loss.
