Manslaughter Charges Dismissed Against Woman Charged In Death At Braham Group Home

Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013 at 1:57 pm

Manslaughter charges against 64-year old Devra Stiles of Pine City have been dropped. Stiles was charged in the death of Gerald Edward Hyska, a man she was caring for in a group home in Braham.

Stiles was initially charged back in Sept. of 2011 with second degree manslaughter-culpable negligence creating unreasonable risk in death.

Judge P. Hunter Anderson dismissed the charges by ruling “insufficient probable cause to support the charge of second degree manslaughter against the defendant as she did not act with ‘culpable negligence.’”
