Police Standoff Reported In Grand Rapids

On Sunday afternoon, two people were arrested in Grand Rapids after a standoff with police. The Grand Rapids Police Department responded to a call of a residential burglary in-process around 2:10 p.m. Sunday.

Police were able to locate a person matching one suspect’s description. Officers attempted to stop that person, but he fled to a nearby residence.

WDIO reports that the officers set up a perimeter around the house, and were able to identify two potential suspects.

A crisis negotiation team that included officers from Itasca County Sheriff’s Office was called in. WDIO reports the officers were able to get the suspects to leave the home by about 4:30 p.m. without incident.

Grand Rapids Police say that there were no hostages being held. The suspects were one adult male and one juvenile male, and they are being held in the Itasca County Jail and the Itaskin Juvenile Center.
