Add Flip Saunders to the list of coaching candidates that have declined to take the job as head coach of the Minnesota Gophers men’s basketball team.

ESPN.com‘s Andy Katz is reporting that Saunders, a current ESPN analyst, turned down the Gophers offer to coach the team.

Saunders coached the Minnesota Timberwolves from 1995-2005. He also was a coach for the Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards.

The Gophers have been in search of a new head coach since they fired Tubby Smith on Monday. Smith coached the Gophers for six seasons.
