Vikings Begin Free Agency With Flurry Of Players Resigning, Winfield Cut
Free Agency in the NFL officially opened on Tuesday and the Vikings had a very busy day. The team didn’t land any big name free agents, but they resigned several of their own key players, and parted ways with a longtime cornerstone on defense.
In a cost saving move, the Vikings cut long time CB Antoine Winfield, who was due $7.25 million in base salary for 2013. The Vikings agreed to terms with right tackle Phil Loadholt, fullback Jerome Felton, safety Jamarca Sanford, linebacker Erin Henderson, receiver Jerome Simpson and offensive lineman Joe Berger. This all coming one day after the team traded WR Percy Harvin to the Seahawks for three picks.
Yes, it’s been a busy couple days here for the purple.
