Kanabec County Republican Party Holds Annual Convention
The Kanabec County Republican Party held their annual convention at Trailview School in Mora on Tuesday night, Feb. 5.
Convention attendees and delegates heard Phil Krinkie, President of the Taxpayers League of Minnesota, explain his views on current budget and tax issues in Minnesota. Krinkie served eight terms in the Minnesota House of Representatives and also as chairman of the House Tax Committee.
Also speaking was former Representative Keith Downey who is running for Chairman of the Minnesota Republican Party. Downey served two terms in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
Delegates also heard from State Rep. Sondra Erickson and Sen. Dave Brown who spoke about current legislation concerning education and health care exchanges.
The purpose of the convention was to elect board members and leaders to various positions. Former State Rep. Roger Crawford was elected Chairman of the Kanabec County Republicans. “We will work to help elect limited government, pro-life Republicans to positions in Minnesota and nationally,” said Crawford.
The board meets monthly and occasionally has speakers that may be of interest to the public and are advertised locally.
