Boys Hockey: WSFLG BLizz Defeat Mora/Hinckley-Finlayson, 4-3
We had an exciting boys hockey game last night on 100.9FM WCMP between the WSFLG Blizz and the Mora/Hinckley-Finlayson Mustangs. Thursday night’s game was a rematch from a game we carried earlier this season. The first meeting between the Blizzard and the Mustangs was a one-goal win for WSFLG, which came in the final minute of regulation. Tonight’s game was also hotly contested, but the Blizz pulled out the 4-3 win.
The game got off to a fast start, with the Mustangs jumping out to a quick 1-0 lead on a power-play goal by Troy Jones. The Blizz answered right back with a goal from Jake Langevin. Langevin also scored once more in the first period. WSFLG scored one more time off the stick of Dakota Linke to end the first period with a 3-1 advantage.
In the second period the Mustangs brought the game within one when Justin Kneiszler scored. At the end of two the score was Blizzard 3, Mustangs 2.
In the third period the Blizzard tried to put the game away with a goal from Brandon Ryan. At that point the Blizz were winning by two, 4-2. The Mustangs answered back, however, with Hunter Wedin’s goal. That goal was just too little, too late. The Blizzard would hold on in the final seconds to win the game 4-3.
After the game our Josh Miggler talked with Blizzard coach Grant Nicoll about his team’s road win.
