Wisconsin Lawmakers Tour New Mining Site
12 Wisconsin State Assembly members from across the state met up recently in Northwest Wisconsin to tour the proposed site for the new iron mine that stretches into the Penokee Hills.
The members also toured the old mine site located in Montreal, Wisconsin. The mine was shut down in 1962.
Rep. Penny Bernard-Schaber of Appleton said. “We need to know what’s in the rock on top and those core samples should be released and be made available,”.
Many of the questions Politicians had before the trip were answered in a more direct manner on the the norther tour.
State Rep. Brett Hulsey said “I believe we have a mine right here. Let’s figure out a way to get this high grade ore to market rather than stripmine one of the most beautiful places in Wisconsin,”.
