Two local students have been selected as the AAA winners in subsection 18: Pine City High School senior Adam Martin won the AAA award for boys, and Mora High School senior Noelle Elvehjem won the award for the girls in subsection 18.

The AAA award is a very prestigious honor given out to students who excel across the board. The winners are picked on their accomplishments in their school’s programs relating to the Arts, Academics, and Athletics. As the Sub-Section winners, both Martin and Elvehjem have had their names and credentials forwarded on to the Region Committee for review. That Region level means that both Martin and Elvehjem and their parents will be invited to the St. Cloud Holiday Inn on Wednesday, January 30th at to compete with the other three sub-sections AAA winners. The two have already each won an engraved plaque, and medal for winning at the sub-section level.

Martin and Elvehjem were both noted as captains on their respective teams during the fall season. Martin led the Dragons football program as an offensive lineman. Elvehjem led the Mustangs volleyball team to a berth in the State Tournament.
