Cloquet Police Looking For Ex-Husband Of Woman Facing Attempted Murder Charges
Cloquet Police have put out a missing persons alert for the ex-husband of a woman who was arrested earlier this week in connection to the shooting of her current husband.
Police say 37-year old John Bemis of Cloquet hasn’t been seen since Monday, the day after his ex-wife, Marie Majerle, was arrested. Bemis’ family reported him missing Wednesday although Bemis is not a currently a suspect in the shooting. WDIO reports that Bemis is wanted for questioning in the investigation as a possible material witness.
Bemis is 5’11 and weighs 180 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. Police believe Bemis is traveling in his 2005 red GMC Extended Cab Sierra pickup, displaying Minnesota Support our Troops license plate 140DH, and also has a 2009 red Kawasaki Enduro motorcycle, displaying Minnesota plate number 60170MG.
Police are asking anyone with information on Bemis’ whereabouts to call the Cloquet Police Department at 218-879-1247, the Carlton County Sheriff’s Department dispatch center at 218-384-4185, or 911.
Marie Majerle is charged with premeditated attempted murder. The criminal complaint against her alleges she shot her husband, Richard Majerle, in a sauna at the Cloquet home they own early Sunday morning. The home was in foreclosure and scheduled to be sold on Tuesday and Marie Majerle had apparently filed for divorce in October and had been living with an ex-husband in Cloquet. That ex-husband is believed to be Bemis.
