Man Dies In Single Vehicle Crash In Isanti County
A 50-year old man was killed in a single vehicle accident in Isanti County on New Years Day. In a press release from the Isanti County Sheriff’s office we learned that on Jan. 1 2013 at about 7:50am a call came in that someone had seen a car crashed at a “T” intersection in Oxford Township.
Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found the 50-year old male laying outside of his SUV, which had rolled. It is undetermined at this time if the driver was ejected or tried to get out of the vehicle on his own after the crash. The vehicle was rolled so far off of the roadway that it was hard to see in the darkness and hard to see from the road.
The man was identified as Thomas Leonard Babinski of Cedar, MN and he was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Babinski subsequently died at the hospital. It is unknown if alcohol played a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Isanti County Sheriff’s office.
