MN Man Charged In Grand Rapids Double Shooting
A 26-year-old Bovey man has been charged in a Grand Rapids double shooting that left two people critically injured Saturday.
William Levi Payne was charged with eight felony counts, including two counts of first-degree attempted murder, one count of kidnapping, one county of terroristic threats, two counts of first-degree burglary, one count of second-degree assault and one count of violation of an order for protection.
According to authorities, Grand Rapids police responded to a shooting at about 8:30pm on Saturday. When officers arrived, they discovered the man and woman that had been shot. The two victims were transported to an area hospital in critical condition. They have been identified as 32-year-old Paul Russell Johnson and 59-year-old Rosemary Oberg-Johnson, both of Grand Rapids.
Payne’s bail has been set at $1 million without conditions and $750,000 with conditions. His next court appearance is set for Dec. 31, 2012 at 9 am.
