New Statistics Show Wisconsin Has Second Best Graduation Rate In U.S.

The U.S. Department of Education is using a different system to calculate graduation rates, which shows Wisconsin is well above the national average; good enough for second-best in the nation.

WEAU reports the new system simply divides the number of the student body by the number of students graduating. That system puts Wisconsin’s graduation rate at 87 percent, which only includes graduates who have attended and completed high school in four years.

The new system will also look at the graduation rates of students finishing after five and six years of high school, that will help the state and the districts to get the big picture and help students prepare for post-secondary success.
