Packers, Vikings Both Get Torched

Sunday, November 25th, 2012 at 10:28 am

It was a brutal Sunday for football fans in the listening area as both the Packers and the Vikings were blown out by superior opponents. First, during the early games Minnesota lost at Chicago 28-10. The play of quarterback Christian Ponder was dismal, as he completed just 22 of 43 passes for 159 yards with one touchdown and one interception. By the time Ponder hooked up with Kyle Rudolph on the team’s only score, it was a 25-3 blowout in the third quarter. All day long the Bears offense moved the chains against the Vikings defense while the Vikes offense struggled to find any rhythm. The purple were without wide receiver Percy Harvin, and that allowed the Bears to focus more on stopping Adrian Peterson, who did finish with 108 yards on 18 carries, but failed to score a touchdown.

The Bears now have sole posession of first place in the NFC North because in the Sunday Night game, the Packers were absolutely torched by the Giants 38-10. The Packers banged up defense had no answers for the reigning Super Bowl Champions and quarterback Eli Manning erupted with three touchdown passes. Aaron Rodgers started out hot, hooking up with Jordy Nelson on a 61-yard touchdown pass early in the first quarter, but couldn’t get much done after that. Rodgers passed for 219 yards with that one TD as well as one interception.

The Vikings will play the Packers this Sunday at Lambeau Field.
