Extensive Internal Investigation Ongoing In Burnett County Sheriff’s Office

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012 at 7:03 am

We initially reported back in July that an investigation into alleged inappropriate conduct by several members of the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office was ongoing.

Now, 5 Eyewitness News is reporting that one quarter of the employees at the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office have been under investigation after dispatchers, deputies, and supervisors conspired in a “cover-up” to change call logs, details, and even the very nature of the allegations made by a woman who twice accused one of the department’s deputies of domestic abuse.

When asked if  his employees betrayed the public trust, Sheriff Roland told 5 Eyewitness news: “some of them, I believe, did.”

When WCMP news asked about the story back in July, we were told everything was still being investigated. Now we know that as of Friday, the entire investigation was forwarded to the Wisconsin Attorney General.
