STATE FOOTBALL: Moose Lake-Willow River Beats Hawley 35-22

The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels were victorious again on Friday night to improve to 12-0 on the season. The team toppled the previously undefeated Hawley Nuggets in the opening round of the Class AA State Football Tournament in a game played on the campus of St. Cloud State University.

The Rebels stuck to the ground game for virtually the entire game and racked up big yardage against a solid Nuggets front. Michael Pender scored two rushing TD’s while Jake Disterhaupt had two rushing scores and a TD catch on the only throw of the night by Tony Adamczak.

The Rebels are now just a win away from a possible rematch against Caladonia in the Prep Bowl. The replay against Hawley can be heard right here…
