Moose Lake-Willow River Advances To State Over Duluth Marshall 40-7!

The Moose Lake Willow River Rebels have officially advanced for a 7th straight year to the State High School Football Tournament! The Rebels were just one step away from a return trip Thursday night against the Hilltoppers of Duluth Marshall.

The game started off with an early fumble recovery by Duluth-Marshall, as the Hilltoppers took a quick and suprising 7-0 lead. The feel of the game however turned quickly, as Moose Lake-Willow River plowed the opposing defense with three 1st Quarter touchdowns. The score at halftime was 26-7.

Dominance continued throughout the 2nd half as the Rebels scored consecutive times to end play at 40-7. The Rebels’ stand-out running back Jake Disterhaupt had three huge Touchdowns throughout the night with lengths of 22, 60, and 66 yards.

With this win Moose Lake-Willow River advances to their 7th straight State Football Tournament. The squad has come close to winning the championship in the past few seasons, again losing in the Prep Bowl last year. Keep an eye out for information & future broadcasts right here on
