Grantsburg Woman Killed In Tuesday’s Crash Identified

On October 23, 2012 at 2:17P.M the Polk County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two vehicle head on crash on STH 35 north of 240th Avenue in Luck Township. Polk County deputies along with Luck Fire and Northland Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

Investigation of the crash found that a 1998 Ford Explorer owned and operated by Beverly A. Brunberg (56) of Grantsburg WI was traveling northbound on STH 35 when her vehicle moved left into the southbound traffic lane and struck a 2012 Kenworth Conventional Panel truck owned by Gelco Corp. of Sparks MD, leased by Noradex Building Materials of Roseville MN and operated by Mark S. Holasek (43) of Andover MN. After the impact, both vehicles came to rest in the travel lanes of STH 35.

Luck Fire Department assist with the extrication of a passenger in the Brunberg vehicle that was identified as Robert D. Brunberg (23) of Grantsburg. Robert was transported to St. Croix Regional Medical Center to treatment of his injuries. Beverly Brunberg was also trapped in the vehicle and had suffered fatal injuries. Mark Holasek was examined by EMS on scene and found to have no injuries.

STH 35 was closed to traffic for approximately 3.5 hours for the investigation of this crash.

This crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Polk County Medical Examiners Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
