Milk numbers for dairy farmers in Minnesota and Wisconsin continue to rise as new statistics for the month of August came in recently.

The numbers show Wisconsin dairy farmers harvested 2.3 billion pounds of milk last month. That number proves to be 5 percent more than the August of 2011. In Minnesota, farmers produced 753 million pounds of the good stuff, a 3 percent improvement from last year. Amongst the two states, California is the nation’s top milk-producing state, but close behind at number 2 is America’s true Dairyland, Wisconsin.

Milk production nationwide remained constant at 15.3 billion pounds.
