MN Sec. Of State Ritchie Seeks To Inform Voters For Big Election

Tuesday, September 18th, 2012 at 6:55 am

Minnesota’s Secretary of State has a message for voters. Mark Ritchie says we are going to have have the biggest election in Minnesota history this November. Ritchie points out that it will be the largest for a couple reasons. First off, it’s a presidential election year year, and secondly Ritchie points out the senate race and redistricting because our population has grown.

Ritchie told the Associated press that many states including Minnesota, have switched to a new election system called provisional balloting. The Secretary of State is concerned that the new balloting, plus this year’s redistricting and constitutional amendments, may leave people in the dark. Those constitutional amendments can be somewhat confusing on the ballot as voters are never really shown what they are voting on in a clear and concise way. Ritchie is urging folks to check out new on-line tools at the Minnesota Secretary of State web site which guides voters through the changes.
