The Mille Lacs County Sheriff says a car hit a 14-year-old girl walking to her school’s football game Thursday night.

The accident happened around 7:14 p.m. when a 37-year-old man called police saying he had struck a pedestrian. Investigators say he was also on his way to the game.

14-year-old Katelin Sawyer attended Onamia High School, where she was headed during the accident. She was struck from behind by the driver.

The accident is still under investigation at this time by the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

Such sad news- prayers to her family & friends. This is how a responsible person acts after an accident. Thankfully this man did not flee and try to make up some excuse. Praying for this man as well.
